Jan Staniszewski is a survivor of the Soviet deportation of Polish civilians to Siberia during World War II. As a child, he was deported with his family and spent 6 years in Siberia, including time in Czernogorsk. He returned to Poland after the war.
Jan is a brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose story is told through the memoir Siberian Gavroche and the accompanying documentary film.
